You know the look. The faces, the hands, the rolled eyes.

I love the first year of life. Every day is different. So when I get to see them every couple of months and capture them with my camera, I love my job so much. This little guy is the son of a Firefighter. I love when I can integrate bits of the parent’s lives into the images of their newborn. It makes for great images but more than that, it makes for great memories. Props are great, but even better is when they mean something. The sleeping newborns, curled up in the same position as when they were in the womb, are so precious.

Love your work! So beautiful! I love his little hat too. Oh my goodness that is cute!! These are absolutely stunning! I love the wonderful, golden patch of light you found. These are so incredibly cute! LOVE!!! Seriously!? Wow. I’m kind of at a loss for what to say because each time I come back to your blog, I’m once again blown away by your talent. These are just as gorgeous as always! I don’t know if I can come up with the words to describe how amazing I think these are. What lovely light. What a beautiful baby. And just some seriously breath-taking stuff! seriously amazing pictures. Wowee. Claire, the light on these is stunning! And your subject is so cute. Love everything about these! Gah! Super cuteness! There are usually two things every little girl dreams of for her wedding: the groom and her dress. The groom changes shape as she gets older. It will usually be whoever she has a crush on that week, or whoever she is dating until eventually, the imaginary groom figure becomes the actual fiancé and husband to be. The wedding dress has very much the same timeline. It usually begins as a dress that a princess wears. Either through a movie or a photograph, an image imprints in a girl’s imagination. It grows and changes through the years and changing fashions but always is “the one”. The same feeling you have when you find the right guy is the feeling when you put the dress on. Then the wedding is over. The groom becomes a husband (no lesser of a being by any means!) but life settles into routine. The dress that you spent your life imagining has been worn and is now put away. In a closet or a chest, it is a piece of a memory of a glorious day that is in the past. But it doesn’t have to stay that way. Something that is growing in popularity is converting the wedding dress into a christening gown. This allows you to bring back into rotation that dress that meant so much to you and create a new heirloom for your family. Fashion changes through the years and you don’t have to worry about convincing your child to try to wear your wedding dress.

And the portrait of your little girl is breathtaking! What a wonderful idea, she looks adorable in the dress! That is a gorgeous gown. I love this story! WOW! So lovely Absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!! What an amazing tradition to start. So lovely Claire, and what a fantastic idea. these are all so timeless and beautiful and I LOVE what you’ve done with your dress. Stunning! Wow, Claire. That dress is gorgeous! That is a brilliant idea and a gorgeous dress! Life comes at you so fast. Those last couple months of pregnancy seem to drag along and yet in no time you blink and suddenly you have a brand new life in your arms. You spend nine months imagining what your child will look like. In a blink, they are 3 months old. Then celebrating their year birthday. It can be difficult to remember the way their nose wiggles when they sleep. The way their eyelashes frame their eyes when they look directly at you that first time. The way that their toes curl underneath them as they lay down on their tummies.

These really make me want to cuddle a sweet little newborn! Absolutely beautiful Claire!!! Love these so very much!! So absolutely precious! These are gorgeous Claire! So beautifully done! Pure gorgeousness – wow! BEAUTIFUL images! LOVE!! Gorgeous!!! I feel that you totally captured the baby’s essence. I think photographing while pregnant suits you!!! I love the emotion I feel looking at these!!! Ever see a photographer who starts out with a 365 day project, or even a 52 week project and never finishes? Yeah, me too. Well, I recently joined a group of a few other busy photographers who decided to commit to a 12 month project! If we fail this, we’ll be taking donations for a time management seminar. The best part is that it will be totally candid, lifestyle shots of each of our own families/lives. We don’t even have to dredge up random people or make our kids pose for us. We’re calling the series “The Story of ________” and we’ll each be filling in our own blanks. At the end of this post is a link to another photographer who participated and she’ll be linking to someone else. It’s a whole big circle of stories in pictures. Click through and enjoy!
